Tyrone lost out to a very good Cavan side this evening at Clones in the Ulster Minor Hurling Shield on a 0-15 to 1-9 scoreline. The Breffni side were in dominant form throughout and reached the break seven points in front as Tyrone struggled to create scoring chances. Four points was all they had to show for the opening thirty minutes before team captain Peadar Daly produced a superb run through the middle and came close to snatching a goal just before the break.
The Red Hands improved after half time and put the Cavan defence under considerable pressure. Josh Ferguson, Dean Rafferty, Peadar Daly and Sean Ciao Corr drove their team forward and had they taken their chances, including a missed penalty they could have snatched the win. However it would have been more than they deserved as Cavan were much more solid as a team and played the better hurling throughout.
