Minor Hurlers Continue To Show Good Form
Saturday 12.04.2025

Tyrone minor hurlers continued their fine run of form in the Celtic Challenge with a 3-17 to 0-9 win over Derry at Garvaghy on Saturday afternoon. The Red Hands showed they meant business with a fine first quarter that saw them establish a 0-7 to 0-1 lead playing some superb first touch hurling.
Scores from Cathal Cunningham, Callum Jackson, Caolan Loyd and Chris Gildernew gave them the platform they needed. Tyrone were playing with confidence and composure finding spaces and team mates when required as they put Derry to the sword.
Derry goalkeeper Chris Mc Aleer made a great double stop from Caolan Loyd to deny Tyrone a certain goal with the first half drawing to a close. This lifted the Derry mood and they finished the half trailing 0-8 to 0-4 with points from Callum Richardson, Killian Doyle-Kennedy, Emmett Mc Nulty and Oisin Groogan.
With four between the sides at the break Derry would have fancied their chances of getting back into the game after the restart. However their hopes were well and truly dashed when Cormac Mc Erlean and Cathal Cunningham hit them for two goals straight after the restart to leave the score 2-8 to 0-4.
Three minutes later corner forward Rory Woods extended the lead further with Tyrone’s third goal and the game as a contest was all but over.
Tyrone continued to work hard but the challenge of the game had all but evaporated. Killian Doyle Kennedy, Conor Mc Kenna and Eoghan Mc Guigan did add points for Derry but further scores from Cunningham, Callum Jackson, Conor Mc Philips and Mattie Price sealed the win for Tyrone on a final score of 3-17 to 0-9.
