Minor Hurlers Lose Narrowly In League Final
Saturday 12.04.2014
Tyrone Minor Hurlers great league run came to a heartbreaking end this afternoon when they lost the Division Two league final by the narrowest of margins to Cavan 1-12 to 2-8. Played on the Breffni Park 3G surface the young Red Hands battled hard throughout and reached the break only a point behind on a score line of 0-5 to 0-4. Tyrone’s first half points came from Josh Ferguson (0-2), Conor Mc Gettigan (0-1) and Ciaran Mc Nulty (0-1). Indeed the second half also saw little between the sides and with twelve minutes remaining Tyrone’s first goal put them 1-08 to 0-8 ahead but the Cavan youngsters finished stronger to edge an absorbing game by a point. Among the second half scorers for Tyrone were Peadar Daly, James Loughran, Brannon Molloy and Josh Ferguson.
Next up for Tyrone is another clash with Louth in the Ulster Minor Shield on Friday night next. That game will be played at Garvaghey.
