An Charraig Mhór 0-8

Omagh St Enda’s 0-7

Carrickmore got their hands on the grade one minor league title at Dromore on Monday night as Omagh failed  to capitalise after the eventual winners were reduced to fourteen men 15 minutes into the final, Cahir Munroe getting his marching orders after an off the ball altercation.

Omagh were ponderous in attack throughout despite the best efforts of Tom Donaghy, Ben Groogan and their top scorer Conor Turbett. Scores  in general were at a premium on the night as neither side capitalised on possession.

After a low scoring first half the score at half time was 0-3 apiece. There was little in the way of free flowing football on show over the hour with a handful of yellow cards dished out too, yet Carrickmore did enough in the end to edge it by the minimum.

In a remarkable three minute period of second half injury time Omagh controlled the ball yet despite trailing by that single point they failed to have a shot on target, instead they held possession with Carrickmore happy as the clock ran down.

Daniel Fullerton, who top scored with 0-5, opened the scoring for Carrickmore nine minutes in with a free. The same player added to his tally nine minutes later. Munroe was red carded as he and Omagh’s Enda Mc Caffrey had an off the ball altercation at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams hit several wides before Omagh were back level by the 24th minute through Conor Turbett and Mc Caffrey points. Another score from Turbett had Omagh ahead on the thirty minute mark but up popped Fullerton with a point to leave it all square at the break.

Ben Groogan’s early second half point had Omagh ahead but three points without reply from Stephen Grogan, Fullerton and midfielder Lorcan Mc Bride had Carrickmore two up and seemingly in control.

The St Enda’s plugged away withTurbett and Campbell ponts levelling the game. Grogan and Alex Mc Elhatton exchanged points in the final quarter but Carrickmore were back in front when Fullerton hit a fine angled point from out on the right.  There was still time for an equaliser but Omagh hit two wides and were unable to carve out a score with Carrickmore holding out for the win.

Carrickmore Scorers: Darren Fullerton 0-5, Stephen Grogan 0-2, Lorcan Mc Bride 0-1

Omagh Scorers: Conor Turbett 0-3, Enda Mc Caffrey, Ben Groogan , Brian Og Campbell 0-1 each
