Minor League Wrap Up

Round six of the Tyrone minor leagues took place over the weekend with some interesting results again taking place. In section 1A defending grade one champions Stewartstown secured a much needed win but they had to work hard for it against a battling Pomeroy side. Callan Burke top scored for the Harps with 1-3 to his name, Tiarnan Rush hit four points, Mark O’Neill got a goal with Ruairi Kennedy [3], Macauley Quinn and Darren Devlin all supplying points as it finished 2-14 to 3-7. Best on the night for the winners were Fergal O’Neill, Jason Park, Steven Talbot, Mark O’Neill, Callan Burke, Macauley Quinn, Gerard O’Neill, Tiernan Rush and Ruairi Kennedy.
In the same section Coalisland were 2-13 to 2-10 winners at home to Moortown. Cormac O’Hagan [5], Sean Corr [4], Eoghan Rankin [1-0], Michael McKernan [1-0], Shea Oliver [2] and Gavin Graham were the Fianna scorers. The winners had good displays from Jack Fee and Michael McKernan in defence, Sean Corr and Gavin Graham in midfield while keeper Dillon Woods pulled off four cracking saves.
In section 1B there were wins for Carrickmore, Errigal Ciaran and Galbally over Greencastle, Cappagh and Omagh respectively. Ronan Grogan scored all three goals for Carrickmore with Aidan Fullerton, Oisin McElroy and Peadar Daly all playing well for the St.Colmcilles as well. Ciaran Corrigan, Daniel Kerr and Liam Rafferty were the Galbally goal scorers as they overcame an under strength Omagh side at Pearse Park. Diarmuid O’Doherty hit three points for the visitors with Ronan Clarke getting their goal. Pauric McAnenly and Patrick O’Neill were among the Errigal Ciaran marksmen as they recorded a victory over Cappagh.
Glenelly defeated Drumragh 1-11 to 2-6 with Barry McConnell [6], Eamonn McConnell [4], Cathal O’Neill [1-0] and Kevin McBride [1] their scorers with Cahir McCullagh playing well too. Dromore edged out Strabane 3-14 to 3-11 with the help of goals from Declan McNulty, Caolan McCarron and Odhran Rafferty with Aaron Devine in defence and Ciaran McCormack in midfield to the fore. Tattyreagh turned on the style to record a comfortable win over Naomh Padraig. James Darcy [2-5], Brian Callaghan [2-2], Johnny Harkin [5], Jarlath McDonagh [1-1], Niall McDonagh [1-0], Eoghan Murray [2], Joe Cartin [2] and TJ Richards [1] were their scorers with strong displays coming from Darcy, Harkin, Peadar Mullan, Murray, Cartin and Callaghan.
