The latest round of minor league games took place on Tuesday evening as the race for the quarter final places in each grade reaches a crucial stage. In grade 1A Dungannon continue to lead the way and are still unbeaten following a hard earned 1-10 to 2-5 win away to Clonoe. Patrick Molloy got the Clarkes goal with James Morgan, Conor McKee and Ciaran Barker among their points on a night when they had good defensive displays from Odhran McArdle and Cameron Hughes. Coalisland are in third place after beating Donaghmore at home in a high scoring encounter. Ryan Magee top scored for the Fianna with 3-3 to his name with Cormac O’Hagan [1-4], Dan Talbot [1-3], Peter Herron [3], Eoin Rankin [1-0], Gavin Graham and Rhys Teague on target as well. Caolan Mulgrew top scored for the St.Patricks with 2-3 to his name, Brannon Molloy got 1-2, S McKernan 1-1, Conor Hasson 0-3 and Sean McCaul 0-1.
Derrylaughan kept alive their chances of securing fourth place with a 4-11 to 2-13 win away to neighbours Ardboe. The Kevin Barrys were eight points down midway through the second half before producing a superb comeback. Sean Cullen in goals produced a number of saves, Gavin Corr, Colm Rooney and John Donaghy were solid in defence, Tomas Carney and Brian Kennedy dominated midfield while up front Paul and James Donnelly both played well. The Kevin Barrys marksmen on the night where Paul Donnelly [2-0], Conor Donnelly [1-0], James Donaghy [1-0], James Donnelly [5], Tomas Carney [4], Shane Crew and Colm Rooney. Defending champions Moortown weren’t in action and they remain in second place in the table.
There is a three way tie at the top of grade 1B with Galbally, Carrickmore and Dromore all having eight points although that situation could change tonight, Wednesday, if the St.Dympnas win at Errigal Ciaran. The Pearses had to withstand a determined Cappagh side to come through on a 2-13 to 1-14 score line. Patrick and Caoimhin Quinn got the Galbally goals with Mark Donnelly, Peter Quinn, Darragh Trainor, Tiarnan Loughran, Mark Quinn and John Hanna among their points. PT Cunningham and Nathan Donnelly were among the scorers for the visitors. Carrickmore defeated Omagh 1-17 to 2-10 at home. Ciaran Daly top scored for the St.Colmcilles with nine points to his name, Ciaran Cuddy got 1-2, Conor Loughran and Aidan Fullerton two points each with James McGurk and Tiernan Murray also on target. The winners had good performances from Ciaran Daly, Conor Loughran and Pauric Mullan.
It’s a three way tie at the top of grade 2A as well with Kildress, Moy and Pomeroy all having eight points as well! The Wolfe Tones trailed neighbours Cookstown at halftime but they fought back to earn a share of the spoils thanks to a point with the last kick of the game from Adam Connolly. Ruairi Monaghan and Matthew McGuigan hit eight points between them as it finished 0-14 to 2-8. Dean Teague, Dylan Coyle and Thomas McGuigan were among the scorers for the Father Rocks with Shea O’Driscoll and keeper Aaron Ridewood both playing well for them too. That result keeps Cookstown in fourth place in the table alongside Eglish and just a point behind the joint leaders. Pomeroy also have eight points after a comfortable win away to Edendork and Moy are there as well after a hard earned victory at Killeeshil. Eglish were in fine scoring form as they secured an emphatic win at home to Gael Naomh Padraig.
Aghyaran lead the way at the top of grade 2B after beating Beragh 3-14 to 1-11 at home, a result that ended the Red Knights qualification hopes. Owen Roes are in second place after accounting for Fintona 2-15 to 3-10 with Oisin Dooher and Cathal Kelly getting their goals. Maguire, J Murphy and Maurice McCloughan were the Pearses goal scorers with J Deasley, C Starrs and C Ledley among their points with keeper C Gillespie playing well. That defeats ended Fintona’s league hopes. Both Domhnaigh moved up to joint fourth place in the table alongside Strabane after beating the Sigersons 1-19 to 2-13. Tattyreagh weren’t in action but remain in third place in the table.
In grade 3A Loughmacrory, Stewartstown and Greencastle have all finished their campaigns on ten points and they are joined at the top by Brackaville who still have a game to play. That last game is against Aghaloo who have eight points so there is still a possibility that five sides could finish joint top of this group! The Roes beat neighbours Derrytresk 4-14 to 2-10 with Sean Day hitting 2-5, Shea Fee 1-4, Paul Gervin a goal and Jamie Devlin, Owen Linden, Rhys McDonald and Conor Stock all getting points. Stephen Anderson, James O’Hagan, Shea Fee, Sean Day, Chris O’Donnell and Paul Gervin all played well for the winners. The tie of the round saw Loughmacrory win 4-11 to 1-14 away to Aghaloo. The St.Theresas were five behind but Conal Grimes bagged three goals in the final ten minutes with Arnoldas Macadulkas also finding the net during the closing stages. Cathaoir Gallagher, Ryan Curran, Sean O’Donnell, Cormac Harte and Colm Logue all notched points for the visitors as well. Greencastle were emphatic winners away to Brocagh while Stewartstown overcame Rock at home. A battling Rock side led by three points at the short whistle and with fifteen minutes to go the sides were level but Stewartstown finished strongly. Padraig Ward top scored for Rock with 1-3 to his name, Martin Corrigan got three points, Shea Litter and Caolan Devlin got a goal each with Liam Nugent registering a point.
Trillick made it six wins out of six in grade 3B after a comfortable victory away to Clann na Gael. Drumragh are hot on their heels in second place and they too have a one hundred percent record after securing a fifth win at the expense of third place Castlederg. Tommy Mullin and Shane Devine got the Sarsfields goals with Mullin, Rory Lynch and Rory McBride supplying points. The winners had good displays from Rory McBride, James Broderick, Caolan Womersley, Eoghan Rea and Darragh O’Kane. The other game in this group saw goals prove to be the difference as Omagh overcame Drumquin.
