Tyrone 2-12 Roscommon 1-8

Tyrone are into their 14th All Ireland Minor final thanks to deserved seven point success over Roscommon at Breffni Park on Sunday afternoon.
There is no doubt the key period in the game was in the closing stages of the first half. Roscommon had just blasted the ball to the  net in the 26th minute but Tyrone came straight down the field for Joel Kerr to raise a green flag before Peter Colton scored another goal to leave Tyrone 2-6 to 1-5 ahead at the break. The winners landed the opening two points of the second half as well to make it 2-3 without reply and they never looked back.

Eoin Long, Darren McAnespie, Dean Casey and Luke Shally had early points for their respective sides before McAnespie landed a superb 2 pointer. Roscommon replied with a brilliant brace from Seamie Carthy to leave it 0-5 each. Wing half back Seamus Hussey then smashed the ball into the roof of the net but in the next attack Kerr flicked home at the back post after a Peter Colton effort had dropped short. Midfielder James Mulgrew added a point before Colton exchanged passes with Aodhan Quinn to finish to the net in the 31st minute.
Pearse McDonald and Long both converted frees in the opening ten minutes of the second half as Tyrone picked up were they had left off. Casey and Quinn traded points before efforts from Christopher Ferrick and Shally reduced the deficit after Kerr had a penalty saved. Tyrone though weren’t to be denied with Thomas Meenan, Long and the hard working Cathal Farley all adding points to send them into the decider.
