Mixed Fortunes For Dean Maguirc
Monday 08.02.2016
There were mixed fortunes for Dean Maguirc Carrickmore at the Bawnacre Centre at Irvinestown on Monday afternoon in the Post Primary Schools Ulster semi finals. First up were the U14s when a great start to the game propelled them to a 3-12 to 0-10 win over St.Aidan’s Cootehill to qualify for the McDevitt Cup decider. Stephen Grogan scored two goals with Sean Conneely also finding the net while Pearse Dobbs and Diarmuid Gallagher supplied points. In the second game of the double bill the Dean were unlucky to lose out to Breifne College in the Arthurs Cup semi final. The Cavan champions enjoyed a whirlwind start with two goals but the Tyrone champions hit back to get on level terms at the break with Cathaoir Gallagher notching five points. Ciaran Cuddy put them in front on the restart before their opponents landing six points without reply. The Dean weren’t finished yet though as a Gallagher goal helped close the gap to the minimum but the Cavan lads closed the game out with three points to win on a 2-12 to 1-11 scoreline.
