Mixed Fortunes For Tyrone Players

The Dr Mc Kenna Cup got underway on Saturday afternoon with Fermanagh taking on UUJ at Derrygonnelly in the opening fixture of Tyrone’s group.
The university side began with seven Tyrone men in their starting lineup in a match that ended level Fermanagh 1-9, UUJ 0-12. Both teams missed chances late on and a draw was probably a fair result overall.
In a game that was played under the new rules UUJ fullback and Coalisland Fianna defender Michael Mc Kernan failed to finish the game after picking up a second yellow card. His fellow Tyrone panellist Lee Brennan grabbed most of the headlines however with a fine personal display that saw him hit 0-9 for the students.
Tyrone are scheduled to get their campaign up and running against Derry at Celtic Park on Thursday night.
