Mixed News On Injury Front For Tyrone

There is mixed news on the injury front for Tyrone with their Ulster championship preliminary round clash with Down just a month away. Justin McMahon, who has been sidelined with injury since the end of last season, experienced his first taste of action in 2014 when he played for Omagh on Saturday afternoon.

McMahon lined out at full back and completed the entire sixty minutes in their league win over Cookstown and even managed to get on the scoresheet in a game where his Tyrone colleague Ronan O’Neill bagged two goals. It’s a major boost for Mickey Harte to have the 2008 All Star full back playing again with that date against the Mourne men rapidly approaching.

It’s not all good news for the Red Hands though with the news that Ronan McNamee could be in a race against time to be ready for that May 18th encounter. The Aghyaran man ironically played at full back against Dublin but lasted only four minutes before being black carded.

It has since emerged though that he damaged his shoulder in that tackle that led to him having to go off and he would have been substituted had he not been black carded.  He has missed both of his club’s opening two league games in the Intermediate league.
