Moortown ended Galbally’s hopes of making it through to the final of the Grade One Under 14 league with a narrow one point win in the semi final over the Pearses this afternoon. Played in difficult conditions where the wind made life tough for both sides the loughshore lads played most of the game with fourteen men having lost a man fifteen minutes in to the first half. At that stage Galbally, playing wind assisted, were leading 2-1 to a point following early goals from Colm Mc Aleer and Adam Arthurs. Moortown rolled up their sleeves and driven on by Jamie Devlin they went in at the break all square 2-1 to 0-7.

Playing with the elements Moortown scored an early second half goal to go ahead but a Daniel Kerr goal and points from the same player and John Hannah edged Galbally ahead.  Once again Moortown levelled the game and with Mc Lernon and Devlin leading by example they nudged ahead as the game entered the last ten minutes. Galbally pressed hard for an equaliser but just came up short and Moortown edged it by the narrowest of margins. The winners can now look forward to meeting Coalisland Fianna in the league final as they try to halt the lads from Annagher  in their quest for a league and championship double.
