There was further celebration for Moortown at Greencastle this evening when they defeated Carrickmore 8-10 to 1-4 in the Grade 1 Og Sport final and will now go forward to represent Tyrone in the Ulster finals. The first half was a fairly even affair with the lough shore men leading at the break 3-04 to 1-02. However their ability to hit goals proved the key difference in a one sided second half. Earlier they had overcome the threat of Pomeroy in the semi final 3-7 to 1-5 while Carrickmore got the better of Owen Roes, but only just coming from 1-04 to 1-03 down at the break to win 5-06 to 4-05.
In the grade two semi Moy lost heavily to Aghaloo while Aghyaran were three point winners over Beragh. In the final Aghyaran showed their worth in the first half to lead 5-2 to 1-3 at the break. The North Tyrone lads continued to dominate and won comfortably in the end 9-3 to 1-5 with Brian Penrose, Cahir Moss, Benny Gallen and Eoin Byrne among the goals for the winners.
