Moortown Win Ulster Og Sport Plate Competition

Moortown may not have followed in Stewartstown’s footsteps by winning the Ulster Og Sport title last Saturday but they still had something to show for their efforts after winning the Plate competition. The St.Malachys lost out to eventual champions Glen in their opening group game [3-4 to 0-7] before drawing with Donegal champions Naomh Conaill [3-7 each]. The sides who didn’t qualify for the knockout stages of the main competition went through to the Plate semi finals. In the semi final they faced the Donegal lads again and this time they made no mistake winning on a 1-12 to 0-5 score line. That left them in the final where they defeated Armagh champions Killeavy 1-7 to 0-5.
