Moy bounced back from the disappointment of losing in the Intermediate championship final to stage a tremendous second half fightback to get the better of Aghyaran away from home to set up a promotion playoff clash with Moortown.
Moy led by two points with only four minutes of the first half left to play but a scoring burst from the St.Davogs that saw them register 2-4 without reply saw them establish a 2-9 to 0-7 advantage at the interval. The visitors though dug deep in the second half to chisel out a win in a gripping encounter. It was a game that produced a shootout between two of the leading marksmen in Intermediate football with Michael Conroy hitting 2-8 and Ronan McHugh finishing with 1-8 to his name.
Conroy and Ryan Coleman had first half points for Moy with Ethan and Ronan McHugh responding for the hosts. Then came the scoring burst with Ronan McHugh finding the net in the 28th minute with Eoghan McHugh also raising a green flag to leave them well in control at the short whistle.
Coleman missed a penalty in the third quarter but Conroy converted one and also scored a goal from play. Coleman, Eunan Deeney, Eoin McGeary, Diarmuid McKeown and Conroy all tagged on points as Moy fought back. Ronan McHugh, Ciaran McGlinchey and Eoghan McHugh had Aghyaran points but Moy kicked three of the last four points to secure a dramatic victory.
