Thursday December 28th sees double county champions Trillick St Macartans host the Teamtalkmag Allstars for the Myles Mc Cann Memorial Cup with all proceeds going to three local charities Care for Cancer, The Spirit of Paul Mc Girr and the Scoliosis Research Society.
Those who knew Myles Mc Cann will remember him as an entrepreneur who became heavily involved in the hospitality industry when he returned to Tyrone in 1985 from New York. Using the experience he gained in the Big Apple he eventually established and grew two very successful businesses in Omagh, Mc Cann’s Bar and Grant’s Restaurant. Mc Cann’s Bar is renowned as a centre for traditional music while Grants restaurant is known far and wide for the quality of its food and service.
Myles was a GAA fanatic who followed Errigal Ciaran and Tyrone all over the country. He passed away, much too young, in September 2012. This match keeps his memory alive and helps us raise funds for local charities. The cup was won last time out by the Allstars who had Ronan Mc Nabb of Dromore as captain that day.
No pressure on the Allstars but we would like to maintain their recent run of success. We thank Trillick Club and their manager Jody Gormley for hosting the game and MFC for providing the kit for the Allstars.
The game gets underway at 1:00pm on Thursday with referee Cathal Forbes in charge assisted by Mark Loughran and Garry Gormley. Please support the game and the charities if you can by attending. Admission is by donation.
