“You pick up O’Neill and you pick up Mc Carron” could well be the final instructions issued in both changing rooms as Omagh and Dromore take to the field in Pomeroy on Sunday. The interesting scenario could well see Cathal Mc Carron lining out against Cathal Mc Carron while Fabien O’Neill may well come face to face with his namesake Ronan. There is sure to be plenty of “chat” among them all but how these namesake battles develop may well decide the outcome of the game. It could well have been much more interesting of course if Shane Mc Mahon had been on the Dromore panel and Leo Mc Cullagh made the Omagh team with their namesakes Colm Mc Cullagh, who is of course a cousin of Leo’s, and the Mc Mahon brothers from Omagh possibly lining out in opposition to them. Whatever way it works one set of O’Neills and one of the Mc Carrons could well see their championship season end on Sunday. Some people say it is all part of the game or in this case all part of the name!
