Naomh Colum Cille retained their Junior hurling title at Healy Park on Saturday but found opponents Omagh St Endas a much tougher nut to crack this year. The East Tyrone outfit were worthy winners and produced some excellent scores to lead at half time 0-11 to 0-3. Midfielder Seamus O Hagan and Chris Kearns were particularly to the fore with eight first half points between them.

Points from Tom Mc Clements, Damian Woodhead and Paul Mc Kernaghan kept Omagh in the game but with a bit more composure they could have closed the gap even further as several good chances were missed.

Naomh Colum Cille hit the net early in the second half through Niall ONeill but Omagh responded immediately with a goal from the stick of Cormac Taggart. However O’Neill extended his team’s lead with a second goal two minutes later to put the game well and truly beyond Omagh. From then until the end they eased through to win 3-16 to 1-7.

St Endas will be disappointed to have lost so heavily but they know they have improved considerably since last year and will take heart from this. However Naomh Colum Cille controlled the game even though they were down to fourteen men following the sending off of midfielder O’Hagan midway through the second half.
