Drumquin hosted the grade four under sixteen final between Naomh Eoghan and Clogher on Saturday afternoon with the north Tyrone side emerging 3-8 to 2-5 winners. Clogher opened the scoring with a converted free from the impressive Niall Mc Kenna but once Naomh Eoghan got to the pace of the game they controlled the pattern and pace of the match before running out deserving six point winners.

Team captain Daithi Mc Namee was in fine shooting form for Naomh Eoghan and  finished the first half with 2-5 as his team made good use of playing with the breeze.

The second half saw Naomh Eoghan battle for every ball as they did their best to prevent Clogher from closing the gap. Defensively they were excellent with superb performances from Jude Harkin, Travis Collins, Aaron O’Loane and Conn Kelly while around centrefield Patrick Duddy, Oran Gallagher and Cathair Mc Kenna worked their socks off all afternoon. Up front Niall Mc Gettigan, Conor Doherty and Conor Durey caused lots of problems for Clogher with their pace and movement while Daithi Mc Namee’s impressive scoring returns of 2-6 speaks for itself. Naomh Eoghan’s third goal was as a result of a penalty from the boot of Conor Doherty.

Oisin Mc Elroy. Caden Noble in goals, Michael Mc Connell and Jayden Chambers battled hard throughout as the boys in Maroon did their best to reduce the deficit in the second half. A superb goal from from Niall Mc Kenna late in the second half reduced the gap to six but try as they might they just could not penetrate the tight marking Naomh Eoghan defence and the Newtown based lads finished as deserving winners on a score line of 3-8 to 2-5.
