Naomh Eoghan Looking Good For Promotion

Naomh Eoghan continued their relentless march to a possible Division Two league title and with it promotion to senior football following a comprehensive win over Aghyaran at Newtownstewart on Thursday evening.
Played in front of a large crowd and on a fine surface the home team bossed the game from the off with midfield duo Michael Corless and Eoin Devine taking the game to their opponents right from the off. Eamon Mc Govern got the ball rolling with Naomh Eoghan’s opening point and when Michael Corless burst through for a goal on nine minutes it looked like the home side was going to race to a win. However they were rocked back on their heels when Cormac Mc Hugh burst through for a goal to leave two between the teams with twenty minutes on the clock.
Corless, who was outstanding throughout, hit his second goal two minutes later and points from Eoin Devine, Corless again and Tiarnan Mayse left the home side 2-7 to 1-1 ahead at the break and looking set for the win.
The second half became something of a procession for Naomh Eoghan as they maintained their pace and intensity with fine displays in defence from Gary Duffy, Callum Mc Namee and Gary Eoin Mayse. The second half saw the winners add 1-9 while restricting Aghyaran to a couple of Kieran Mc Glinchey two pointers and a Cormac Mc Hugh goal.
Naomh Eoghan finished deserving winners on a final score of 3-17 to 2-5. With thirteen games played and thirteen wins to show for it, a league title is looking more and more likely but the only focus on the players’ minds now is the next fixture and two more points.
