Newtownstewart will play Beragh in the LCC Junior championship final after they overcame Clogher and Killeeshil respectively at Killyclogher on Saturday afternoon.

The St.Eugenes went into their semi final with the Eire Ogs as underdogs against a side who got to last year’s final and who recently annexed the league title but they didn’t read the script with a superb display. Kevin Gallagher got the only goal of the game after three minutes as it finished 1-13 to 0-12. Brendan Boyle and Aidan McSorley weighed in with four points each for the winners with Eoin Donnelly, Sean Gallagher and Michael Coreless also on target.

Ryan McCaughey converted four frees for Clogher while their team Captain Mark Bogue landed three points from play from wing half back. Conor Shields was unlucky to hit the bar in the third quarter for Clogher with a goal chance while the Eire Ogs finished the contest with fourteen men when they had Barry McKenna straight red carded in the 52nd minute.

Beragh held off a late comeback from Killeeshil to deservedly advance to the decider on a 3-12 to 2-13 scoreline. The Red Knights led 2-5 to 0-6 at the break with Niall Owens and Aaron Owens grabbing brilliant goals. Martin Rodgers hit their opening three points of the game while Tomas Hoy, Pascal Donaghy and Daniel Millar were on the score sheet for Killeeshil.

Oisin Donnelly and Hoy traded points on the restart as did Nathan Grimes and Packie McMullan. Donaghy and Hoy closed the gap to just three points going into the final quarter. A brilliant Grimes brace then came either side of a Calum Corrigan goal as Beragh assumed control again. Donaghy then sent a free straight to the net and deep into injury time the same player scored another goal but Beragh deservedly held on.
