Omagh CBS are through to the last four of the Mac Rory Cup following their four point win over a very determined St Colman’s outfit. There they will face defeated Mc Cormack Cup finalists St. Pats Armagh.

Playing with the aid of the elements in the first half Kieran Donnelly’s team settled well and found themselves three clear by the eleventh minute after fine scores from Aaron Montgomery (2) and Liam Gray.

However the Newry lads began to venture further forward and in spite of facing a strong breeze landed two fine points courtesy of Patsy Finnegan and Andrew Gilmore to trail by one with seventeen minutes on the clock.

Omagh threw off their defensive shackles somewhat bringing Mark Hayes and Daniel Fullerton more into the game. However it was defenders Cormac Mc Bride, Tom Donaghy and Cathal Colton who were catching the eye with some superb defensive work. Several excellent turnovers resulted in the ball being played in quicker to the forwards and points from Fullerton, Aodhan Mc Connell, Mark Hayes, Lorcan Mc Bride and Cathal Colton saw the Tyrone side go in at the break leading 0-8 to 0-3.

Indeed it could have been more had Daniel Fullerton converted a goal chance after a superb passing movement with seven minutes of the first half remaining.

Omagh CBS controlled the opening minutes of the  second half and Liam Gray extended their lead to six when he converted a thirty yard free.

Colman’s began to show more endeavour and Omagh’s Anton Fox was forced to make a fantastic diving block to prevent a certain goal before the Newry lads added two points to their tally. Omagh keeper Oran Grimes was called into action on a couple of occasions but his calmness and shot stopping ensured Omagh remained in control.

Both teams had further chances for goals but when Colman’s eventually breached the Omagh defence through full forward Eamon Brown in injury time Omagh responded in style to add the last two points of the game through Fullerton and Gray to deservedly make it through to the last four.

Final score: Omagh CBS 0-14, St. Colman’s Newry 1-7.
