There will be a Tyrone school playing in the Ulster Colleges showpiece on St.Patrick’s Day after Omagh CBS set up a Danske Bank MacRory Cup semi final clash with St.Patrick’s Academy Dungannon after a thrilling replay win over St.Colman’s Newry in Emyvale on Tuesday afternoon.

With the wind at their backs the Brothers established a 1-5 to 0-0 lead with a brilliant goal from Ronan McHugh and points from Conan McElduff, Aidan McSorley, Gavin Slane and Joe Colton. As halftime approached the Newry lads closed the gap with efforts from Jack Haughey and Conor Gilmore.

Sean McGale and Slane scored on the restart but back came St.Colmans with points from Joe Morgan, Pearse McCrickard and Haughey before a Conal Gordon goal put them in front. With time running out McElduff sent the game to extra time, 1-11 each. In extra time Haughey edged the Newry boys in front but Slane levelled matters before McHugh put them in front a minute from time. With seconds left St.Colman’s won a penalty but Oisin O’Neill’s spot kick was brilliantly saved by keeper Patrick O’Neill as Omagh CBS won 1-14 to 1-13.
