McGrath Shield

Omagh CBS Mc Grath Shield team is through to the semi final of the competition following a convincing display in Fintona on Thursday.

The display saw them getting the better of a highly rated St Patrick’s Armagh on a final score of 3-14 to  1-7. Played at Fintona Pearses excellent ground the foundations for the victory were laid in the first half when playing against a strong breeze the Tyrone school reached the break leading 1-7 to 0-4 with their goal coming from the boot of Tom Gallen. Gallen finished the game with 2-1 to his name after a very hard working showing from the big defender.

This was a really good all round team performance by the CBS with every player producing the goods when required. The defence were dominant throughout with some superb tackling and support play. The middle of the field was a competitive area with both sides enjoying periods of possession and dominance. However the Brothers’ workrate around the breakball ensured the Armagh defence were kept under plenty of pressure.

Up front the constant movement and willingness of the front six to work hard off the ball meant the Armagh defence were kept on the back foot throughout.
