Omagh CBS Through To Mc Grath Final
Friday 28.03.2025
Omagh CBS and St Colman’s College made light of difficult conditions as they played out a very entertaining Mc Grath Cup semi final at St Paul’s Lurgan with Omagh emerging winners on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-6.
Aodhan Corry opened the scoring with a converted first minute free. Cathair Mc Caul levelled matters for the College on four minutes before Omagh got on top again.
Points from Cormac Darcy, Caolan Mc Kinney (2), and Corry put the Tyrone school four in front before a fine brace of scores from the boot of Oisin Morgan made it a two point game Omagh 0-5, Newry 0-3.

Omagh settled to the pace of the game better than the Newry lads with late runs from deep causing problems for Colmans. The Brothers were sharp around the break ball and once they turned the ball over they attacked at pace. Five points in a row from Omagh with Matthew Garrity, Tomas Mc Elholm and Aodhan Corry on target helped send the Tyrone school off at the break leading 0-10 to 0-4. Newry’s final point of the half came just before the short whistle from the boot of Paudie Morgan. The question being asked before the restart was would a six point lead be enough to send Omagh through to the final.
Colmans began the second half on the front foot and created a superb chance of a goal which saw Omagh goalkeeper Turlough O’Hagan bring off a fantastic save from Colmans full forward Nikos Perdikomatis.
That lucky escape for Omagh seemed to focus their minds and with The Omagh defence tightened up considerably and with Conal Loughran, Tom Gallen and Conor Fyffe to the fore they frustrated their opponents and restricted them to just two second half points.
Omagh added two points in the second half themselves as the wind picked up but a very mature and well organised display sealed their place in the last two.
