At half time there was very little between these sides at cold and windy Gortacladdy as Maghera led 0-04 to 0-02. In what was a keenly contested first half of football Omagh opened the scoring with a point from midfielder Padraig Mc Girr but had to wait until the last kick of the first half for their second score which was the result of a converted free kick from Greencastle player Gavin Slane. In between Maghera landed four points of their own with Ruairi Mc Elwee responsible for a couple of their scores. The South Derry side has enjoyed the majority of possession but thus far have failed to make the most of it. Half time score Omagh CBS 0-02, St Pats Maghera 0-04.

Gavin Slane reduced the deficit on the restart with a point for Omagh but the game was decided when Maghera hit seven unanswered points to put them in an unassailable position midway through the second half. Man of the match Mc Elwee was once again to the forefront of most of Maghera’s best moves and scores. Omagh did rally somewhat late in the game with further scores from Kevin Collins, Gavin Slane and Eamon Mc Connell but they were a well beaten side on the day. St Patrick’s College Dungannon will be hoping to keep the Tyrone flag flying in this competition when they take on Cup favourites St Colman’s Newry on Monday at Madden in Armagh.
