Reigning minor champions Omagh St Endas surrendered their crown tonight in a hard fought battle with Cookstown. Mind you, in spite of having star player Cormac O’Neill absent with a hamstring injury the county town side started excellently with two early goals from speedy forward Stephen Murphy to lead 2-2 to no score after eleven minutes. But that was as good as it got for the Omagh lads as the Fr Rocks staged a steady recovery and managed to close the gap to two points at the break. Cookstown continued to push forward after the restart and with Barry Potter in great form with the dead ball they looked the team most likely. A goal ten minutes from the end by Oisin Maguire put the home side four ahead and although Omagh pushed hard they came up short by two points when the final whistle blew.
