Omagh CBS recovered from being a goal behind at half time to record a 3-07 to 3-05 win over St Pat’s Armagh at Augher this afternoon. Indeed Omagh were unfortunate to find themselves in arrears at the break as they had dominated the first half for long periods. Their first half goal was a well constructed major from midfielder Paul Mc Girr after good approach work from the Omagh half forwards.
Armagh began the second half well and added a third goal shortly after the restart but this was cancelled out almost immediately when full forward Cillian Mc Cann hit the net for Omagh. This score seemed to lift the Omagh lads and they bossed much of the game thereafter with Cathal Gallagher, Peter Cassidy, Gavin Slane and Caolan Mc Quaid all becoming increasingly prominent.
Omagh’s third and decisive goal came from the boot of Eamon Mc Connell and further points from Gavin Slane and goalscorer Cillian Mc Cann ensured that the Omagh lads had their noses two points ahead at the finish. Scorers for Omagh were Gavin Slane 0-6, Cillian Mc Cann 1-01, Padraig Mc Girr 1-00, Eamon Mc Connell 1-00.
