St.Marys Magherafelt may have needed a play off win over neighbours St.Pats Maghera to ensure their place in the MacRory Cup quarter finals but Omagh CBS manager Kieran Donnelly isn’t surprised that they have made it through to the business end of the competition. The Brothers take on the Derry lads and Kieran knows that it won’t be easy.

“I expected Magherafelt to make the quarter finals as that particular group of players were very strong at Dalton and Brock Cup level earlier in their school careers. They beat a good Maghera side in a play off and we will have our work cut out to beat them. Having said that I believe that its one of the most open and competitive MacRory Cups in years and any one of five or six sides could win it.

I was happy with the way that we played in the group stages particularly the last few games but the real work starts now and we have six or seven weeks to get ready. Ronan O’Neill should be back as well and that will be a huge boost for us for the quarter final.”
