Omagh Overcome Gallant Greencastle.
Sunday 21.11.2010
Omagh St. Endas made it through to the semi final of the under twenty one championship following a hard fought three point win over a gallant Greencastle side this afternoon. Played in excellent conditions there was little between the sides in the opening half with the St. Patricks marginally the better side leading six points to five at the break.
Greencastle remained on top in the opening period of the second half but it was Omagh who edged ahead on the score board as they played very effectively on the counter attack. They restricted their opponents to only two scores in that thirty minute period while adding six themselves with two points each coming from Michael Gallagher, Shane O’Neill and county minor star Conan Grugan. Greencastle pushed hard for a goal late on but just when they thought they had won a free that might have saved the game, referee Francie Gallagher decided in Omagh’s favour and the game ended on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-8.
Scorers:
Omagh: Ryan Mc Bride, Lee Browne, Shane O’Neill, Michael Gallagher, Conan Grugan all 0-2 each, Tony Mc Cann 0-1
Greencastle: John Mc Cullagh, Mark Carson 0-3 each, Dean Fox, Peter Teague 0-1 each
