Historic Teams to Be Remembered.

The final “Marking our Past” series of events for 2023 will mark four very special anniversaries at Omagh St Enda’s as this current year comes to a close. The fortieth anniversary of the 1983 Tyrone minor football championship winning side will be the main feature of the celebration on Saturday 30th December while the club’s success in the 1963 and 1953 senior championship as well as a nod to the 75th anniversary of the club’s first championship winning side from 1948 will also feature.

The end of year date will allow a handful of players from the 1983 side who are away from home to take time out from their Christmas holiday back in Omagh to reunite with teammates. Omagh Captained by John Mc Grath beat Dromore 3-7 to 1-7 in the final at Carrickmore with Seanie Meyler, Terry Fox and Kieran Mc Mahon among the goals.

Many of the Omagh squad also collected minor hurling championship medals later in the year with that historic success being marked earlier this year. Surviving members and families of the successful winning teams from 1948, 1953 and 1963 are also invited for a night of nostalgia and stories in the revamped and cosy members’ lounge

The event on December 30th starts at 8-30pm is free and will feature a festive buffet.
