After several weeks of planning and great get togethers already the countdown is on for the Omagh St Enda’s football reunion which will take place on Friday September 2nd. Footballers from the 1970s to the mid eighties will reunite, remember past glories and heartbreaks as well as recount some memorable days in the Omagh shirt.

The pandemic put paid to a planned fifty year get together for the 1970 and 1971 Tyrone minor and West Tyrone Juvenile championship squads over the past two years so those sides will join three successful squads from 1972 , the junior football league and championship runners up, the juvenile West Tyrone league and championship winners and the West Tyrone minor league winners as well as  the 1973 division two winners.

Many of the players were involved then in the club’s 1977 Intermediate championship success while the 1980 all county league winners , Jim Devlin Cup winners and beaten championship finalists also had many familiar faces on show. The 1984 reserve champions also fit neatly into the mix with so many players from the early 70s still involved with these teams while the beaten senior county finalists are also invited..

Former County stars  Hugh Crawford, Justin O’Doherty and Liam Turbett will be joined by the likes of Eugene Mc Mahon ,Brian Mellon, Charlie Donaghy, Neill Boyle, Sean Healy and Gareth Mc Crory. while some great managers Jackie Taggart, Mickey Mc Girr, Jackie Livinstone , Paddy Corey and Neill Barbour among them will also be remembered. The get together includes video footage, photos and memorabilia as well as interviews, craic and a wee buffet will make it a night to remember.

An open invitation to former players and coaches for Friday night has been issued and the event will get underway around 8-30pm.
