Omagh CBS 1-8 St.Josephs Donaghmore 0-7

A blistering start at Coney Park in Ardboe on Wednesday afternoon helped pave the way for holders Omagh CBS to make it back to back wins in this year’s MacRory Cup when they proved too strong for St.Josephs Donaghmore.

Dromore clubman Adrian McGurren had the ball in the back of the Donaghmore net after only seven seconds to give them an advantage that they were never to lose. Darragh Donaghy and McGurren swapped points as did Conan Hegarty and Ronan Lowe before Donaghy and Eoghan O’Neill closed the gap to two. Omagh closed out the half on top with points from Harley Patton and McGurren to establish a 1-5 to 0-4 advantage.

Twice in the second half Omagh CBS stretched their lead to five points thanks to Hegarty and McGurren. Donaghy and Conall Herron responded for Donaghmore but the goal that they needed to spark a revival never looked like coming as they lost their third game on the trot.

Omagh scorers: A McGurren 1-5 (2F), C Hegarty 0-2 (1F), H Patton 0-1

Donaghmore scorers: D Donaghy 0-3 (3F), R Lowe 0-1, E O’Neill 0-1 (F), M Coyle 0-1, C Herron 0-1
