Omagh played host to Coalisland at Healy Park on Friday evening and they had the minimum to spare at the final whistle after a real thriller. The Fianna began well with the opening three points of the game with Plunkett Kane getting two of those before Conor Meyler scored a 9th minute goal.

Michael McKernan then got a goal for the Fianna but at the end of the opening quarter Omagh got another major through Cathal McCarron. Kane and Paddy McNeice exchanged points with Micheal Gallagher and Conan Grugan as Omagh led 2-4 to 1-6 at the break.

Cormac O’Hagan and Padraig Hampsey had early second half points for the visitors before Omagh got their third goal when Ronan O’Neill converted a penalty. Coalisland though then enjoyed their best spell of the game with five points in a row from Kevin Corr [2], Brian Toner, Tiernan Quinn and O’Hagan to get their noses in front.

Meyler then got his second and Omagh’s fourth goal of the game to put them back in front again. O’Hagan and Thomas Clarke swapped points and while Corr had a late brace for the Fianna it was Omagh who won on a 4-8 to 1-16 scoreline.
