One Wall Success In Clann Eireann
Tuesday 30.08.2011

Tyrone players kept up their impressive record in this year’s One Wall circuit with a number of excellent performances in Clann Eireann Lurgan’s annual tournament. Niall Kerr got the ball rolling by beating local player Conor McMahon 19-17 in an excellent masters game where he once trailed by 12 points to nil. Lorcan McBride U10 Turlough Clarke U12 and Niall Allison U14 kept up the good work by winning their competitions and there were also a number of plate winners as well.
But undoubtedly the best performance came from 15year old Maeve McElduff who beat World No 1 40×20 player Fiona Shannon in the semi-final of the women’s open and then went on to push Ireland’s top one waller Lorraine Havern all the way before coming up short by just 3 points at 15-12 in the final. In fact with only 90 seconds left on the clock the scores were tied at 12 all. Maeve also went on to reach the semi finals of the under 16 competition only losing by 2 points to the eventual winner Patrick Havern in the semi final.
