Owen Roes Cruise Into Quarters
Friday 05.09.2025
The second game of Friday night’s Connolly’s of Moy championship double header resulted in victory for Owen Roes on a score line of 1-17 to 0-7. The result also condemned Stewartstown Harps to relegation and a place in Division 3 for next year. The north Tyrone side were fitter, sharper and better organised than their opponents and once they overcame early nerves they controlled the flow of the game and the scoring. Early points from Cathal Mc Shane for Owen Roes and a brace from the boot of Gareth Devlin had the Harps ahead 0-2 to 0-1. But even at that stage Owen Roes were dominating possession and territory and with points from Darragh Dooher and Aidan Hegarty they moved 0-3 to 0-2 ahead.
By the middle of the half the teams were level with Macauley Quinn getting his team’s third point. Fortunately for the Harps Cathal Mc Shane appeared to have left his shooting boots behind as the Roes men kicked nine first half wides but still reached the break leading 0-6 to 0-3 and in control.
The third quarter of the game saw Owen Roes up the pace as they hit 1-7 without reply with Man of the Match Cathal Mc Shane finally finding the range. Damien Mc Crossan, Adam Coyle, Conn Tinney and Mc Shane all added points before Dara Dooher plundered a goal for his team as the game entered the final quarter.
Stewartstown battled back in the closing minutes with scores from Gareth Devlin (2) and Dan Lowe (2), but it was very much a case of too little too late as the north Tyrone men defended stoutly and added further points courtesy of Cathal Mc Shane and Conn Tinney to run out ten point winners.
Final Score : Owen Roes 1-17, Stewartstown 0-7.
