Owen Roes hosted their annual Primary School blitz last Wednesday evening which saw 50 children from the local schools compete in an entertaining evening’s football. Team Kerry under the guidance of Owen Roes Ladies player Caoimhe McNulty had gone through the evening unbeaten to reach the decider, where they met team Galway who had edged out a gallant Mayo side only via scoring difference.

Little separated the two sides throughout the final with scores ebbing back and forth. However a late team Kerry rally saw them home by just two points.

Owen Roes Chairperson Gerard Kelly paid tribute to the two referees who officiated at the event, Ronan Parker, and Cathal McShane, the five coaches who looked after the teams, and the parents who came out to support the children on an great night’s football.

Two Owen Roes players who represented Tyrone this season, Cathal McShane (Minors) and Ryan McShane (U21s) presented the winning trophy to the captains of the Kerry side, Jack Kelly, and Rebecca McMenamin, and medals to all the competing children.
