Carrickmore 1-16 0-19 Loughmacrory

The parish derby lived up to all expectations as Carrickmore and Loughmacrory played out at a thriller in the semi-final of the Connollys of Moy Tyrone Senior championship in Plunkett Park on Sunday afternoon.

Go Man of the match Eoin McElholm played a pivotal role at both ends as the momentum swung in opposite directions throughout. A Cormac Munroe fisted effort in the opening attack put Carrickmore in front but Eoin McElholm started the contest on fire kicking three of the next four to put Loughmacrory in front after a frantic eight minutes.

A Tiernan Loughran goal after Carrickmore capitalised on the kick out in the 19th minute restored Carrickmore’s lead. Late two pointers from Cathal Donaghy and Arnoldas Macidulskas saw Loughmacrory lead 0-11 to 1-5 at the interval.

The second half saw the relentless pace continue. Lough went 4 up before two pointers from Tiernan Loughran and Ruairi Loughran left the minimum between them with twenty minutes remaining. Oisin O’Kane’s frame prevented a Jonny Munroe goal, but Lorcan McGarrity levelled with a two point free before Niall Allison edged Carmen in front heading in to the last ten.

Ruairi McCullagh pulled Loughmacrory back into it after Lorcan McGarrity punished a 3up breach. Eoin McElholm levelled in a frenzy of excitement, but Niall Allison kept his cool to swing Carrickmore back into the lead. Pauric Meenagh was on hand to convert a free as the game entered additional minutes.

The drama wasn’t finished however as James Donaghy dispossessed Eoin McElholm, and as he bore down on goal, McElholm made a crucial game saving tackle. Both sides had late opportunities, but in the end, the sides finished level after a breathtaking hour. They will go at it again under lights in Omagh on Friday night for a place in the county final against Trillick.
