LADIES FOOTBALL

The Tyrone Ladies Patrick Fahy and Co Solicitors senior, intermediate and junior football championships begin this week with preliminary rounds in all three competitions.

The senior football championship opens for business on Monday night with Ardboe facing Sperrin Og at Kildress. The Greencastle side are hopeful that Niamh O’Neill will be available to play some part in the tie as the county forward has been struggling with injury for some time. Louise Daly’s intermediate champions have a single win under their belts while Sperrin Og are yet to get off the mark. An entertaining and close game is on the cards

Aodh Ruadh face Carrickmore on Tuesday night also in the senior grade at Killeeshil. Both sides have identical league records but the Dungannon side will certainly fancy their chances of nicking a win. Carrickmore go into this game on the back of a heavy defeat at the hands of Errigal Ciaran in the league but they always lift themselves for the championship. It’s set to be a very busy few days with the junior and intermediate games fixed for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

In the Intermediate championship high flying Cappagh will lock horns with league leaders Fr Rocks. The Cookstown side have a 100% record but there’s only two points between the sides in the league. Dromore and Donaghmore will meet on Friday night in what promises to be a thriller between two excellent teams bristling with quality and county stars.

There are four games down for decision in the junior championship. The exciting youthful Edendork play Trillick on Wednesday evening, Stewartstown face Rock, Moy take on Beragh and Castlederg , beaten in last year’s junior league and championship finals get on the road again against Clonoe.
