Galbally advanced to an Ulster Intermediate quarter final with Laragh United after accounting for Armagh champions Grange at Oliver Plunkett Park in Crossmaglen on Saturday afternoon.

The Pearses were full value for their 0-16 to 1-5 victory on a day when they squandered a lot of chances that would have made their win more comfortable. Galbally were out of the traps quickly and with the wind at their backs they had points from Daniel Kerr, Declan Murphy, Sean Murphy and Liam Rafferty before Ben Toal opened Grange’s account. A brace from midfielder Enda McGarrity and one from Conor Donaghy saw the Tyrone champions lead 0-10 to 0-2 at the interval.

Liam Rafferty and Odhran Rafferty exchanged points on the restart before Cathal McKenna narrowed the gap. Galbally though continued to dominate with points coming from McGarrity, Sean Murphy and Donaghy and while Toal got a late goal for the Armagh men it was only a consolation score at that stage.
