Plunketts Into Final
Monday 23.09.2019
The LCC Tyrone Intermediate championship final will be a local derby between Galbally and Pomeroy after the Plunketts saw off a stern challenge from Owen Roes at Healy Park on Monday night.
Ryan Loughran and Cathal McShane exchanged superb points for their respective sides early on before Aidan Woods and Frank Burns both registered for the winners from play either side of an Owen Roes free from Conor O’Neill. In the 18th minute Owen Roes bagged a goal through Ryan McShane with Olly McCreesh responding from a free. Pomeroy were then dealt a blow when Frank Burns was sent off with Cathal McShane tagging on a superb point. It was Pomeroy though who had the final say of the first half from a McCreesh free to reduce the deficit to the minimum, 1-3 to 0-5.
Owen Roes midfielder Tony Devine opened the second half scoring with his weaker left boot before McCreesh replied from another placed ball. Owen Roes then had a goal chance but defender Conall McCormick fired across the goalmouth. The impressive Ronan McKenna levelled matters in the 52nd minute and straight from the kick out Kieran McGeary put Pomeroy in front. Lorcan Kilpatrick and McCreesh added points either side of a response from McShane as Pomeroy booked their place in the decider.
