Plunketts Secure Reserve Title
Friday 26.08.2022

Pomeroy secured the Division 2 Reserve Knockout title defeating Eglish in the final on a score of 1-14 to 1-10. The Plunketts were always in pole position and led by three at the break 0-9 to 0-6.
A second half blitz where they hit four without reply left Eglish needing a couple of goals to get back into the contest and although both sides did find the net the goals came too late to influence the outcome.
Pomeroy began well and points from Callum Lagan (2), Aidan Mc Kenna, Justin Mc Caffrey (2), Matthew Rafferty and Kevin Armstrong had them 0-7 to 0-1 ahead with the Eglish point coming in the 14th minute from Enda O’Donnell. With the game entering the closing ten minutes of the half Eglish hit a real purple patch scoring five points in a row to make it a contest with Joe Mc Connell and Jack Muldoon among the points. Pomeroy steadied the ship and added points from Mc Caffrey and Mc Kenna to go in at the break three clear.
The sides swapped points early in the second half and Eglish reduced the gap to two but Pomeroy controlled the remainder of the half with further points from Mc Caffrey, Lagan and a brace from Peter Rafferty. Both sides landed goals in added time but the outcome was never in doubt and the Plunketts claimed the title 1-14 to 1-10.
