Pomeroy 4-14 Eskra 0-6

Pomeroy produced a superb display of attacking football in Donaghmore on Saturday morning to win the grade 3 U15 Championship title at the expense of an Eskra side who battled from the first whistle until the last.

It was always going to be a tough ask for the Emmetts and no doubt their cause wasn’t helped by the fact that they lost two defenders to injury in the opening twenty minutes of the contest. The impressive Peter McGoldrick opened the scoring for the winners with Ryan McCallan, McGoldrick and Ronan Fitzgerald adding to their lead before Eskra got up and running with an Eoin McEvoy free in the 25th minute. From here until halftime though the Plunketts effectively won the game with the outstanding McCallan and Fitzgerald both finding the net to leave the scoreboard reading 2-6 to 0-2 at the break, Ashton Beattie the other Eskra marksman.

There was no let up from Pomeroy in the third quarter with midfielder McCallan particularly prominent as he added another 2-3 with corner back Odhran Barrett also on target. McEvoy and Matthew McKenna had Eskra points but Pomeroy proved the stronger on the day with Ryan McCallan finishing with a hugely impressive 3-7 to his name.
