Positive News For McCann

Tiernan McCann has received some positive news about the injury that he sustained in Tyrone’s National league win in Kildare.

The Killyclogher clubman cracked his knee cap deep into injury time in Newbridge as the Red Hands got their first league points on the board. He met with consultant Chris Connolly at the Belfast Kee Clinic on Monday afternoon and it is felt that the fracture won’t require surgery.

He will be allowed to weight-bear it this week albeit with a brace on and on crutches. It is hoped that after his next appointment at the end of next week that the recovery work with physio Louis O’Connor can properly begin and no doubt the target will be Tyrone’s opening championship clash with Monaghan at Healy Park on May 20th.

McCann has been an integral part of Tyrone’s half back line as they secured back to back Ulster triumphs and if he can be back in time it would be a massive boost as the Red Hands bid to win the Anglo Celt Cup for a third year in a row for the first time in their history.
