Wednesday evening saw the staging of the Tyrone Camogie Post Primary Finals. The games were hosted at what many would see as the spiritual home of Camogie in West Tyrone, Darcy Park at Tattyreagh.

First up was the Pat Darcy Plate final between Tattyreagh and Fr Shields. Both sides had met several times already this year with little between them and a tight game was expected and both sides delivered in terms of the quality and intensity of the game.

Tattyreagh led at the break 1-1 to 0-2 with a Laoise Mc Carroll goal and a point from the stick of Sophie O’Flaherty. The Greencastle based side battled throughout with Emma Conway, Grace Teague, Aimee Fox  and Ava Molloy working hard. They were powerless however to prevent a confident Tattyreagh from lifting the title following a very impressive second half showing. Points from Zara Donnelly and Aisling Harley added to goals from Harley and Maddie Quinn helped seal the win and the title for the hosts. Final score 3-3 to 0-2 for Tattyreagh.

Eire Óg met Naomh Treasa in the Birdie Mc Menamin Shield Final and produced a devastating display of Camogie to take the trophy on a scoreline of 5-4 to 0-1. Kacey Keenan and Annie Fox Mc Glone were in superb form and kept the Naomh Treasa girls busy in defence with their strong running and fine finishing. Cera Winters and Katie Kelly did their best to lift their side but their opponents were bigger, stronger and sharper all over the field and ran out deserving winners.

Both games were great adverts for the small ball game and the coaches and clubs working hard to promote and develop Camogie deserve great credit for the fantastic work they are doing. A word of praise for the host club Tattyreagh who hosted both finals. As usual the stewarding was excellent and the facilities superb.
