Carrickmore and Brackaville enjoyed deserved championship wins this evening at sun kissed Pomeroy in front of a large vocal crowd. With Plunkett Park looking resplendent in the bright September sunshine both games had plenty of incident and talking points as all four teams pushed hard in search of victory.

The junior semi final between Brackaville and Brocagh drew a large crowd all anticipating a high scoring free flowing game. There was lots of good football and many excellent scores as the current league leaders showed just why they are the top side in Division Three this year. Che O’Donnell top scored for his team with eight points and in spite of conceding a second half penalty they were comfortable winners in the end. They can now look forward to a meeting with the winners of the Aghaloo v Glenelly semi final which will take place on Sunday at Dunmoyle.
In the senior game Carrickmore had to cope with the loss of Conor Gormley to two yellow cards to see off a very determined Coalisland team. The men in green and gold produced a determined and resolute display that saw the sides go in at the break level in spite of playing against a very strong breeze.
Carrickmore began the second half well but were rocked back on their heels when Plunkett Kane converted a seventh minute penalty after he himself was fouled.
Carmen were forced to dig deep and in spite of losing Gormley they showed all their guile and craft to end Coalisland’s chances of doing the double and ensured their name is in the hat for Sunday night’s semi final draw. A last minute goal from Barry Daly put a bit of a gloss on the scoreline but there was no doubting that Carrickmore were the better team on the night.
Final score Carrickmore 1-12, Coalisland 1-8.
