PowerNI Junior Championship Wins For Brockagh And Derrytresk.
Monday 01.08.2011

Brockagh started the first half well against Carrickmore Thirds and built up a fairly comfortable 0-7 to 0-1 lead with points from Niall Mc Cluskey, Ciaran Donnelly and Michael Hughes but they were rocked back on their heels when Ruairi Donnelly found the net for Carrickmore. However the Emmetts continued to dominate the game and a goal from Mc Cluskey left the half time score Brockagh 1-7 , Carrickmore Thirds 1-1.
The Loughshore lads continued to dominate possession in the second half and although Carrickmore fought hard the quality of the Brockagh attack ensured they got the result their play deserved. Second half points from Michael Hughes, Ciaran Donnelly and Paul O’Neill put them in a very commanding position but county minor captain Johnathan Munroe and Conor Mc Aleer with a brace of points each kept the game interesting. Final score Brockagh 1-13, Carrickmore Thirds 1-5.
The second match at Donaghmore was the game between Derrytresk and Dungannon with the Clarkes hot favourites to progress. However by half time it looked like a shock was on the cards as the men from the Hill led 0-8 to 0-3 at the break with Niall Gavin top scoring with 0-5 for his side. Centre back Cathal O’Neill also managed to get on the score board for Derrytresk while Padraig Mc Nulty and Sean Molloy were on target for The Clarkes. Although Dungannon introduced former county player Gerard Cavlan after the break it made little difference to the game as the favourites managed to score only one point in the second half through Dominic Hans while Niall Gavin landed two more for his side and Micky Rea also got on the score sheet for Derrytresk. The game finished thirteen aside as both teams had two players sent off in the second half but that made little difference to the final outcome as Derrytresk celebrated a famous win over table toppers Dungannon on a score of 0-12 to 0-4.
