Red Knights Well In Control
Friday 17.08.2018
The second game in the LCC Junior championship at Fintona on Friday evening also proved to be a one sided encounter as Beragh overcame Glenelly on a 0-13 to 0-4 scoreline.
The Red Knights were against the wind in the first half but that didn’t prevent them from dominated things from the off. Glenelly packed their defence but after Aaron Owens had kicked the first two points the Red Knights never looked back. The lively Nathan Grimes kicked three points with Martin Rodgers and Pat Meenagh also on target for the winners. It took Glenelly a minute into injury time at the end of the opening period to open their account via midfielder Colm Hicks as Beragh led 0-7 to 0-1 at the interval.
Beragh picked up were they had left off on the restart with a Rodgers brace being followed by points from Peter Meenagh and Grimes as the superb Cathal Owens pulled the strings in midfield. Shane Conway and Barry McConnell had Glenelly points but it was Beragh’s night with Rodgers and substitute Eoghain Grimes contributing their last two scores.
