Trillick are through to the LCC Senior championship final after winning a cracking encounter with holders Coalisland at Pomeroy on Sunday afternoon, 0-13 to 0-12 the final scoreline.

The winners were out of the traps quickly with points from Mattie and Richard Donnelly but by the 12th minute the sides were level after Michael McKernan and Cathaoir Quinn had split the posts.

McKernan and Lee Brennan exchanged points before Ryan Gray put Trillick in front. Tiarnan Quinn then hit a brilliant score from out on the right wing and that was followed by points from Cormac O’Hagan (2) and Tiarnan Quinn with a Richard Donnelly effort sandwiched in between to leave it 0-9 to 0-7 at the break.

A Lee Brennan “45” narrowed the gap on the restart before Gray equalised from an acute angle. Paddy McNiece then edged the Fianna in front with a brilliant point from the left wing only for Mattie Donnelly to equalise with a quality score as well.

It was at this stage that Trillick enjoyed a purple patch with Lee Brennan converting three frees on the trot, the latter an outstanding effort from distance from out on the left wing. The Fianna were in trouble but McNiece converted a free while substitute Peter McGahan caught a high ball before swivelling and blasting over. Coalisland had a chance to force a replay but from a difficult free O’Hagan sent his effort to the right of the posts and wide.
