Trillick retain their grade two minor league title thanks to a deserved 3-16 to 3-10 success over Coalisland at Killeeshil on Saturday afternoon. It was a quality encounter that was marred by a serious injury to Coalisland’s Ruairi Campbell that saw the game held up for an hour in the last quarter before he was taken to hospital via ambulance.

The winners had the wind at their backs in the first half and they made it count to establish a match winning advantage. Daniel Donnelly, Simon Garrity, Rory Burns, Sean O’Donnell and Ciaran Daly were among their points as they kicked the opening seven scores of the game before Fintan Coney got the Fianna up and running. Garrity though bagged a goal and when wing half back Keelan Farry also found the net it left Trillick 2-9 to 0-3 in front at halftime.

O’Donnell hit the opening point of the second half but then Campbell burst through to blast to the roof of the Trillick net. Trillick though wasted no time in responding with a major of their own from Garbhan McGovern. Donal Sheeran and Daly traded points before  Caolan Teague palmed in a Coalisland goal. The unfortunate injury to Ruairi Campbell happened in the 48th minute and when play resumed the Fianna were the better side with Sheehan converting a few frees and Coney getting a goal but Trillick had done enough.
