There were two outstanding Division Three ACL games from last weekend played midweek with Coalisland 3rds taking on Derrytresk and Drumragh hosting Brackaville Owen Roes.
High flying Derrytresk showed they mean business with a very confident display against their neighbours Coalisland Thirds winning 3-15 to 1-12. They did however lose key attacker Niall Gavin to injury but hopefully the injury he suffered will not keep him out too long.
Gavin’s point scoring helped his team to lead 1-8 to 0-6 at the break with their goal coming from Eoin Mc Nally just before the first water break while Kevin Corr and Niall Fox helped keep Coalisland in the game with some fine points.
Derrytresk continued to make hay after the break adding a second goal from the boot of Paul Greville. Coalisland showed considerable resolve and replied almost immediately with a goal of their own from Shea Doherty. Indeed the Fianna could have been even closer but for some superb saves from Derrytresk goalkeeper Dermot Mulholland. A third Derrytresk goal in injury time from Paudie Bell wrapped up the game and the result. Final score Derrytresk 3-15, Coalisland Thirds 1-12.
Tuesday night saw Brackaville make the long run to Clanabogan to take on Drumragh Sarsfields. In a very entertaining game Tommy Murphy (0-6), Shane Cleary (0-6), Andy Colgan (1-1) and Kevin Marion (0-4) accounted for most of the home side’s scores while Jason O’Neill (2-1), Dale Mc Sorley (0-3) and Shea Fee (0-2) were among the scorers for Brackaville. Final score: Drumragh !-20, Brackaville 2-10.
